Water and wastewater treatment firm Biochemica Water has been recognised for its work by a Gold Label economic cluster.
Based in the heart of industrial Teesside, Billingham, the firm was named the Small Business of the Year at the North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) Annual Awards Dinner 2018, honouring the outstanding achievements of the companies and individuals who make up the chemical-processing industries in the North East of England. The prestigious event, held at Hardwick Hall, County Durham, was attended by 450 industry leaders on January 19.

The prestigious event, which took place at Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield, saw the cream of the crop of the North East process industry come together to witness the honouring of achievements from across the sector. Amongst the winners, Biochemica’s Dr Sandra Rountree was presented with the highly acclaimed Redhall Engineering Young Achiever Award within the Fine & Speciality Chemicals category.

Michelle Oliver beat off stiff competition from over 30 nominations for the university’s prestigious Intern of the Year award to take the runner up prize at the inaugural celebration event. Held at the National Glass Centre, the awards were hosted by Metro Radio’s Karen Wright and the University of Sunderland’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Julie Mennell.
