One of the youngest employees at the North East’s largest independent water treatment company, Biochemica UK Ltd is seeing double after receiving two awards from Hartlepool Sixth Form College.
19 year old Trainee Service Chemist, Matt Setterfield was awarded with not one but two accolades from his former college in recognition of his achievements.
Solutions focused water treatment company, Biochemica UK Ltd has shown its support for Butterwick Hospice Care by making a generous donation to the charity in time for Christmas.
The donation was made in place of Biochemica sending Christmas cards to its staff, clients and suppliers, with an environmentally friendly e-card with festive wishes issued instead.
As Christmas rapidly approaches, Biochemica UK Ltd is advising customers of its orders and deliveries schedule over the Christmas and New Year period to ensure that the festive season runs smoothly.

Billingham-based water treatment specialist Biochemica UK Ltd has successfully met, and exceeded its £1,000 fundraising target for prostate and testicular cancer charity campaign, Movember.
Team Bio Tash, which comprised of male Biochemica employees, along with family members and clients was inspired to take part in the initiative by Managing Director, Dave Ruddy whose father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In total, a huge £2,224 was raised.
Male staff, clients and family members of Teesside-based water treatment specialist, Biochemica UK Ltd have committed to a hair-raising month by pledging their upper lips to charity campaign, Movember.
Showing their support for Movember for the first time as ‘Team Bio Tash’, the men have been competing to grow the best ‘Mo’ in a bid to raise £1,000 for prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

In order to satisfy the demands of our ever growing customer base, Biochemica is moving to significantly larger offices which also offers 2,400 square meters of storage space. Our new location is closer still to the heavy industrial areas of Teesside which we serve and also offers excellent transport links to the rest of the country.
Biochemica has seen an increase in demand for accredited Legionella Awareness training courses in response to recent Legionella outbreaks in the UK.
Biochemica is able to provide Legionella Awareness training at our training rooms or alternatively at customers’ sites. Various levels of training are offered and tailored to suit individual client requirements.
Biochemica has been awarded a contract to supply commodity chemicals to a large multi-national based in the UK.
“We are constantly adding to our range of chemical products which has subsequently increased our capabilities beyond our core business of water treatment. This recent supply agreement for products such as phosphoric acid, sodium hypochlorite, acids and caustic illustrates our ability to offer a competitive pricing structure from bulk to small pack sizes,” commented Dave Ruddy of Biochemica.
Biochemica has been successful in winning a supply contract for chemical products to councils across England.
“Biochemica supplies a wide range of chemicals, outside of our core business area of water treatment. Our buying power allows us to maximise the best pricing of chemicals from around the world,” commented Dave Ruddy. He added: “Our ever growing portfolio of chemical products has allowed us to move into many different industry sectors, some of which dove-tail with water treatment while others are new, stand alone ventures. Biochemica’s ability to provide complete water management is also now allowing us to become complete chemical providers for industry.”
Biochemica UK Ltd invited a number of customers and key industrial partners to a race day event, raising money for a local North East charity in the process.
“We were delighted that so many of our customers and industrial partners made the effort to attend our race day. A great deal of organising was required but it turned out to be a tremendous success and raised some money for Teesside Hospice as a result,” commented Louise Learman of Biochemica. “I would like to thank everyone for their generosity and we hope to see them all again at next year’s event.”

Biochemica’s ability to provide an all encompassing approach to water management has resulted in additional business in the automotive sector.
The main services provided are cooling water treatment, wastewater treatment, Legionella services and engineering support, amongst others. This combination, in conjunciton with Biochemica’s proven track record using this approach, was key in winning the contract.
