Biochemica UK Ltd has successfully installed a water treatment plant at a stone cutting facility that cuts and polishes high end stone products. Prior to installing the plant, the trade effluent was high in suspended solids and mains water usage was high.
The aim was twofold: to reduce costs by minimising mains water usage through process water recycling; and provide water to a suitable standard for process cooling.
Dave Ruddy of Biochemica said: “Biochemica initially demonstrated an effective water chemistry approach to reduce suspended solids and therefore improve the quality of the water for re-use. After this stage, a water treatment plant was installed around the factory’s existing processes.
“After commissioning, the plant was able to produce a good quality water suitable for use in the process as well as reducing the need for a constant mains feed supply.”
